We all know getting published is difficult, now
and always. I wrote for ten years, completed four manuscripts (not
to mention several halfsies), finalled in the Golden Heart three
times, and had two agents and two critique groups before finally
selling my first book.
Perseverance is important in achieving goals.
There’s no doubt that if I hadn’t stuck it out, if I hadn’t entered
those contests, written and revised those manuscripts and improved
my craft, I wouldn’t have eventually sold. Perseverance is, quite
likely, the most important weapon in getting published.
