Historical
February 2009 - The Wild Rose Press
Cynthia of Abertaine was betrothed as a child to Sir William. However, she has not seen him since he returned to battle after paying homage to her father’s death. Instead, Lord Simon, a man who has aligned himself with Mordred, King Arthur’s sworn enemy, has overtaken the castle she has called home. The only thing that is stopping him from taking her is the possibility that William will return. When Constantine delivers the news that William is dead, Cynthia knows that she has very few options if Simon ever learns the truth. Now that she is free to choose her own love, she chooses Constantine. Yet, she is still in peril from Simon. Will she ever be free from the evil that taints her every move? Will Constantine ever let her love him?
Sir Constantine, a loyal Knight of the Round Table, has been given the task of relaying his fallen comrade’s will to his betrothed. Upon reaching the lands surrounding Leyborne Castle, he is aware that all is not as it should be. An evil man, Simon of Cowell, has taken control of the castle and all of its inhabitants. Constantine cannot in good conscience leave Cynthia, William’s betrothed, in this horrible situation. He must banish the man from the lands, so that he can fulfill the vow he made to William. Constantine finds himself drawn to Cynthia, and therein may lay his downfall. Will he be able to protect Cynthia from the evil that threatens her? Will he be able to fulfill the vow he made, and return to Camelot without leaving his heart behind?
Kathye Quick spins a charming romantic tale. She takes us back to Arthurian times where chivalry and honor flourish yet evil still abounds. She gives us amazing characters, both heroes and villains. The readers will immediately fall in love with Constantine, a knight charged with fulfilling the final request of a fellow knight, and they will just as quickly be enamored with Cynthia, a lone woman who fights against the injustices that have been wrought in her betrothed’s absence. CYNTHIA AND CONSTANTINE is quite simply a classic love story, one to be enjoyed again and again.
